Engineering & Industrial Plants
HR & Workforce Management for Engineering Plants & Industrial Facilities in India
Engineering and industrial plants operate with a dual workforce — skilled technicians and engineers on salary, and a large base of unskilled or semi-skilled daily-wage workers. Retail Line HR handles both categories in one system, with shift management for plant operations, department isolation per machine section or trade, and an advance system that keeps up with the daily demands of industrial labour.

The Problem
Challenges in Engineering & Industrial Plants Workforce Management
These are the real problems Retail Line HR solves for engineering & industrial plants businesses every day.
Skilled and unskilled workers need different payroll treatment
Engineers and technicians are on monthly salaries. Fitters, welders, and helpers are on daily wages. A single payroll process cannot handle both — leading to either complexity or errors.
Plant operations run across multiple shifts around the clock
Engineering plants with continuous operations require attendance tracking across morning, evening, and night shifts. Missing shift data creates both production gaps and payroll disputes.
Machine-section supervisors need authority over their workers
A lathe section supervisor, welding section supervisor, and assembly supervisor each manage their own workers — but a single attendance register owned by the admin creates a dependency that slows everything down.
Contract labour advances are given in cash without records
Contract helpers and daily workers take advances frequently. Without a record system, by settlement time the total advanced and total remaining is always approximate — creating disputes.
The Solution
Retail Line HR for Engineering & Industrial Plants
Every feature serves a specific purpose for your industry — not generic HR software adapted from office tools.
Monthly salary for salaried engineers and technicians with attendance-linked calculation.
Period-wise settlement for daily-wage fitters, welders, and contract helpers.
Track day, evening, and night shift attendance separately for plant operations.
Machine sections (lathe, welding, assembly, fabrication) as separate departments.
Section supervisors manage their section's attendance without admin dependency.
Track advances for contract labour with automatic deduction at settlement.
How It Works
Retail Line HR in your Engineering & Industrial Plants operation
Designed for the way engineering & industrial plants businesses actually run — not how software companies imagine they do.
Plant sections are set up as departments
Lathe section, welding section, assembly, fabrication, and maintenance are set up as separate departments with their own workers and section supervisors.
Section supervisors mark shift attendance daily
Each section supervisor marks attendance for their workers for the relevant shift. Day and night shift attendance is tracked independently per section.
Advances are recorded at the time of payment
The section supervisor records advances for daily-wage contract workers as they are given. Outstanding balances are visible immediately — no end-of-period reconstruction.
Monthly salary and daily wage payroll run independently
Salaried employees go through monthly payroll. Daily-wage contract workers are settled in 10-day periods. Both happen from the same admin panel without mixing.
Business Benefits
What changes when you use Retail Line HR
Dual workforce managed in one system
Monthly salaried engineers and daily-wage contract labour tracked separately but accessible from one admin panel.
Section-level accountability
Section supervisors own their section's attendance — admin is not a bottleneck for daily workforce management.
Shift data linked directly to wages
No separate wage calculation — daily shifts worked × daily rate is computed automatically at settlement.
Advance disputes eliminated
Every advance recorded digitally with date and amount. Outstanding balance is always known — no end-of-period arguments.
FAQ
Engineering & Industrial Plants HR Questions Answered
Can Retail Line handle both monthly-salaried engineers and daily-wage contract workers in the same plant?
Yes. Retail Line HR maintains completely separate payroll systems for the two categories. Monthly-salaried engineers go through the monthly payroll. Daily-wage contract workers — fitters, welders, helpers — are settled through the daily wage payroll system in 10-day periods. Both exist in the same account and are visible from the same admin panel.
Our plant runs three shifts — can Retail Line track morning, evening, and night shifts?
Retail Line HR tracks day and night shifts independently. For plants with three distinct shift periods, the day and night shift structure covers morning and evening/night operations. Workers in each shift period are marked for their respective shift, and wage calculation is based on shifts actually worked.
Can section supervisors see payroll information for their section's workers?
No. Section supervisors (Retail Line supervisors) can see and manage attendance and advances for their section's workers. They cannot access payroll settlement amounts, salary details, or financial reports. All payroll information remains admin-only.
How are advances handled for contract workers who may work for only a few months?
Contract worker advance records remain in the system for the duration of their employment. Advances are deducted at each 10-day settlement. If a contract worker leaves with an outstanding advance balance, the amount remains in the advance register with the outstanding flag. Final settlement or write-off is recorded by the admin.
