Supervisors mark shift attendance
For each department, supervisors mark workers as present or absent for the day shift. Night shift is marked separately — the two records remain independent.
System tallies shifts per worker
At the end of the day or month, the system counts total shift-days per worker. Double-shift workers' counts are automatically higher.
Wage calculation uses shift count
Daily wages are computed as shift-days × daily rate. No manual calculation or separate register — the payroll system reads directly from shift attendance.

Questions about Shift Management
Are day shift and night shift counted separately or together?
They are counted separately. Day shift and night shift are two independent attendance events per day per worker. A worker who does both is recorded as present for two shifts and their wage reflects both.
Can a worker have different daily rates for day and night shifts?
Currently Retail Line uses one daily rate per worker regardless of shift. Shift-differential pricing is not yet supported as a separate rate, but total shifts worked are always counted accurately.
What if a department only uses one shift?
Departments that operate on only one shift simply only mark that shift's attendance. The other shift remains unmarked — it does not affect any records or reports.
Can I view a report of which shifts each department is using?
Yes. Attendance reports can be filtered by department and broken down by shift. You can see day-shift-only counts, night-shift-only counts, and double-shift counts for any period.
