HR & Workforce Management Software for Construction Companies in India

Construction sites operate with a transient daily-wage workforce, family labour groups, multiple subcontractor teams, and constant advance requests. Retail Line HR provides the workforce management tools that construction businesses need — from daily attendance on the site to 10-day wage settlements and family group payroll — all tracked digitally, without paper registers.

The Problem

Challenges in Construction Workforce Management

These are the real problems Retail Line HR solves for construction businesses every day.

Site-level attendance is managed in paper registers that disappear

Construction site attendance registers get wet, torn, or lost. By payroll time, the attendance data for 50 site workers is incomplete or inconsistently filled.

Labour families expect combined payment

Construction labour in India often comes as family units — father, son, and brothers all working on the same site and expecting wages paid to one person.

Advances are given multiple times per month and rarely tracked

Construction workers take advances for medical expenses, festivals, and family needs. The contractor often gives these from pocket with no systematic record — advance recovery at payroll time is estimated, not calculated.

Multiple sites make centralized management impossible

A construction contractor with 3 active sites and 150 workers spread across them cannot manage attendance and wages from a central office without a digital system.

How It Works

Retail Line HR in your Construction operation

Designed for the way construction businesses actually run — not how software companies imagine they do.

Each site or team is a department

Construction site A, site B, and the finishing team are set up as separate departments. The site foreman for each is assigned as supervisor.

Foremen mark attendance on-site from phones

No register needed. The site foreman marks present/absent for each worker from their phone at the start of the workday — including day and night shift separately.

Family groups settled together

Labour families who work on the site are linked in a Family Payroll group. Individual attendance tracked — combined wages settled to the head of the family.

Wages settled every 10 days with advance deduction

Every 10 days, the contractor settles wages for each site. Advances given during the period are automatically deducted. Outstanding balances carry forward.

Business Benefits

What changes when you use Retail Line HR

Digital attendance survives every site condition

Data is stored in the system — not on paper that gets wet or lost. Attendance from every site is accessible from any device.

Family payment expectations met accurately

Family groups get combined settlements without losing individual attendance accuracy for each member.

Advance register always accurate

Every advance recorded instantly. No estimation at payroll — the system shows exactly what was given and how much is outstanding.

Multi-site visibility from one panel

Contractor sees attendance and payroll for all sites from one admin panel — without visiting each site.

FAQ

Construction HR Questions Answered

Can Retail Line HR manage labour across multiple active construction sites simultaneously?

Yes. Each construction site is set up as a separate department within one Retail Line account. Site foremen manage their site's attendance as supervisors. The contractor (admin) sees all sites' attendance, advances, and payroll from one panel without needing to visit each site.

How does Family Payroll work for labour families on a construction site?

Each family member is a separate employee with their own daily attendance tracked individually. When it comes to wage settlement, family members are grouped and their combined wages are calculated together and paid to the designated receiver — typically the head of the family. Advances for any family member are recovered from the combined settlement.

We settle wages multiple times a month for construction workers — is this supported?

Yes. Retail Line supports three settlement periods per month (1–10, 11–20, 21–31) or a full-month settlement. Construction contractors typically settle in 10-day periods — this is the default pattern the daily wage system is designed for.

What happens to advance records when a worker leaves the site before full recovery?

Outstanding advance balances remain visible in the advance register until cleared. If a worker leaves before their advance is recovered, the outstanding amount is clearly shown in the worker's record. The contractor decides whether to make a final partial settlement or write it off — the system records whatever is entered.
